PRODUCTS AND NEWS FROM THE PIPE WORLD

Credo Debuts Humidifier for Pipe Tobacco
Pipe smokers no longer need to lose flavor in their favorite blend, thanks to Credo's new Pipe Rondo 75 humidifier.

The French company is the world's largest maker of humidification devices for fine cigars, and the Pipe Rondo 75 reflects the successful design of the number-one-selling cigar humidifier, the Rondo. "Even pipe tobacco kept in a sealed jar loses moisture, as a smoker dips into it over time," explains Mike Gold, president of Arango Cigar Co, the exclusive distributor of the complete Credo line of humidifiers, hygrometers, and premium cigars. Moisture loss leads to a breakdown and deterioration of aromatic oils, resulting in flavor loss, Gold notes.

"Pipe lovers have used the Rondo for years, but it is intended for cigars. Credo's new Pipe Rondo 75 is specifically engineered to consistently maintain an optimal 75% relative humidity in pipe tobacco, 5% more than Rondo."

Teaming the humidifier with Credo's simultaneous-readout Digital Hygrometer/Thermometer gives users complete control over storage conditions. Both devices attach magnetically to adhesive-backed metal plates positioned in the storage container's lid. This allows easy removal for adding distilled water every few weeks, or Credo's Special Care Solution to regenerate the element's active substance semi-annually.

The humidifier measures 2 1/8 inches in diameter by 1 inch thick, and is molded from transparent brown ABS plastic. The hygrometer measures 1 1/8 by 3/4 inches, and is available in black or gray. The Pipe Rondo 75 retails for $16; the Digital Hygrometer/ Thermometer for $35. Both items are priced so they can be keystoned.
