Tabacalera Celebrates its First U.S. Cigar Launch

Makers of Romeo y Julieta and Joya de Nicaragua, Tabacalera Cigars International recently introduced two cigars to the public, Quintero and VegaFina. The Quintero is the Honduran version of its Cuban namesake, a small but distinctive stick. Meaning 'tobacco farmer,' the Quintero is rolled with Honduran and Nicaraguan filler, Connecticut binder, and Indonesian wrapper.

The VegaFina is handmade in the same Honduran factory as its counterpart; it's made from a blend of Honduran, Nicaraguan, and Costa Rican filler, Dominican binder, and an Indonesian wrapper. Both come in four sizes: double corona, toro, robusto, and lonsdale, with suggested retail prices between $3 and $4.

First Hard Pack Arrives for Natural American Spirit

Americana Tobacco New from Hill Industries

With the recent hike in cigarette prices, rolling your own cigarettes has suddenly become an enticing option. Hill Industries, the maker of Chills tobacco products, introduces Americana by Chills, the premium in upscale, imported roll-your-own tobacco.

Americana is a loose blend of half-zware shag, and is available in a 40 gram pouch (good for up to 50 cigarettes) for a suggested retail price of $3.75. Americana by Chills includes a free booklet of hemp cigarette papers in every pouch.

Nick's Nicaraguan Inmensos are Larger than Life
Nick's Cigar Company recently released a larger than life offering the aptly named Inmenso. Manufactured at Tabacalera Perdomo in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Inmenso is available in two mammoth sizes: Inmenso I, at 5 X 70, and Inmenso II, at 6 X 70.

Both stogies are made from only the finest Cuban seed Nicaraguan and Honduran filler tobaccos, and the blend is further enhanced by a flavorful Nicaraguan binder. It's available in either a spicy Rosado or rich Maduro wrapper. Both cigars come in a box of ten. Suggested retail is $11.99 per stick ($119.90 per box) for Inmenso I, and $13.99 per stick ($139.90 per box) for Inmenso II. As Nick says, "There's just no match for this cigar."

Legends Unite for Players Autograph

Tony Dorsett and Ernesto Carrillo, legends in their respective fields, have teamed up to introduce the newest line of cigars from The Players Cigar Co. Former Dallas Cowboy Dorsett, a member of the NFL Hall of Fame, will market the new line, called Players Autograph by La Gloria Cubana, while Carrillo, the owner of La Gloria Cubana, will manufacture them. "There's nothing like getting out there with a quality cigar," comments Dorsett. The cigar, which comes in four sizes (robusto, churchill, No. 1, and torpedo), features a Connecticut Shade wrapper, Ecuador binder, and a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Mexican tobaccos. It joins the Players Vintage and the Players Legacy in the company's stable of stogies.

Introducing GilFranco Cigars
San Diego's GilFranco Cigar Company, distributor of Cupido cigars, has announced its own line, the eponymous GilFranco Cigars. Made of Nicaraguan filler and binder, with an Indonesian wrapper, the GilFrancos come in four sizes: torpedo, churchill, double corona, and robusto, and suggested retail is between $5.50 and $6.95. "A very well made cigar with an abundance of flavor and a perfect draw," commented author and Smokeshop contributor Dale Scott.
