2001 RTDA
Trade Show

Convention Preview

A sneak peak at the events and exhibitors that will make the 2001 RTDA trade show in Tampa Bay, the place to be in August.

The Annual Convention and Trade Show of the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America is the most important industry event of the year for retail tobacco shops. It provides the ideal opportunity to select high quality products that tobacco shop customers have come to expect. Retailers can see, first-hand, new and exciting merchandise to stock in their stores, items that will keep customers coming back.

The show features the nation's largest selection of traditional core tobacco products. This year's show features over 260 companies and more than 850 exhibitor booths displaying thousands of new and existing product lines - cigars, humidors, pipes, other tobacco products, accessories, and gift items.

Special savings and discounts have been created by many exhibitors exclusively for RTDA Trade Show attendees: These "Show Specials" will only be available at the show.

In addition, admission to the show is free to members of the RTDA, and all retail buyers are treated to a complimentary lunch each day. There are numerous hospitality suites sponsored by manufacturers and distributors for your enjoyment each evening throughout the event, a chance to meet colleagues informally.

Two thought-provoking seminars will be held on Wednesday, August 15, prior to the opening of the show. The cost is $15 per person per seminar.

Seminar 1:
What's News in the Cigar Industry

Norm Sharp, President of the Cigar Association of America, August 15, 9:00 am - 10:30 am As president of the Cigar Association of America and president of the Pipe and Tobacco council, Sharp has a wealth of information to pass on. He will elaborate on industry trends, share sales projections, and will provide an update on Federally mandated health warnings and state legislative initiatives. He'll also explain the latest developments in Cuba. A Q&A period will follow.

Seminar 2:
Idea Exchange

Moderated by Ralph Rumbo and David Berkebile, August 15, 10:45 am - 12:00 noon You'll fill pages of notes with all of the unique ideas and useful tips you're sure to garner at this workshop, as you meet informally with your fellow tobacconists. Plan to share your successful ideas, or talk about problem areas in your business that need another opinion. Remember, there are no new ideas. You just have to be smart enough to identify others' good ideas and make them work for your business.
