Venetian Hotel Home to Vegas Davidoff
LAS VEGAS, NV - At times it seemed as if Rome itself was built faster. But after enduring several months of delays while the retail concourse of the lavish new Venetian Hotel awaited approval from city officials, the newest Davidoff tobacco shop fittingly celebrated its grand opening during the RTDA Trade Show in July.

The new store takes up 800 sq. ft. of space, including a stunning 270 sq. ft. glass-walled walk-in humidor. Larry Rubo, senior marketing director of Southern Wine & Spirits, is the owner of the latest Davidoff boutique. David A. Rossi, who comes from the tobacco division of the Wholesale Liquor Corp., will manage the store. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday to satisfy the Venetian's nonstop clientele.

$500,000 Relocation for A. Fader Shop
BALTIMORE, MD - Construction of a high rise office tower has displaced A. Fader & Son from its downtown East Baltimore Street location. In turn, the company, which operates seven stores in the metropolitan area, is completing renovations at a new downtown site, the former home of Baltimore's first Cadillac dealership dating back to the early 1900s. The new shop will feature an "inner Sanctum" lounge, serving coffee and liquor. The 7,900 sq. ft. space will also house A. Fader's corporate offices upstairs, while a conference center for meetings and office parties in the basement will be completed by about year's end. The retail store is expected to open around Labor Day.

Midtown Emporium for 800-JR Cigar
NEW YORK, NY - 800-JR Cigar, Inc., the world's largest retailer and distributor of premium cigars, has completed negotiations with Bank Leumi for the lease of a new midtown cigar emporium on the Northwest corner of Fifth Avenue at 46th Streets. This new, highly visible location will replace JR's existing store at 11 East 45th Street between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue.

SWS Architects, designers of three previous national award-winning JR Cigar Stores (Route 17 North in Paramus, New Jersey; Route 10 East in Whippany, New Jersey; and One Wall Street Court in the heart of New York's Financial District) has been retained to create a two story "turn of the century" Cigar Palace on Fifth Avenue.

The company fully expects the new location to rival its Wall Street store in terms of ambiance and period 1900's architectural detail. The new 5,000+ sq. ft. location is expected to open in January 2000.

Davidoff Renovates Flagship NY Store
NEW YORK, NY - Davidoff of Geneva has retained the prominent design and construction firm, LWC, to renovate its premier New York store located at 535 Madison Ave. The renovation will include developing a two-story atrium humidor in an opulent 25-foot ceiling space, adding a cappuccino bar and smoking club, and furnishing the store with the type of "soft leather seating arrangements typically found in upscale residential settings."

Davidoff opened its first U.S. store in New York City in 1987. A 9,500 sq. ft. renovation project, the undertaking is scheduled for completion in December.

"With Davidoff, we looked to raise the bar for premier locales among luxury goods houses in New York," said Ken Libman, President of LWC. "We are creating a space of simple elegance featuring a spectacular natural light concept, which customers will want to return to."
