MERCHANDISE AND NEWS FROM THE PIPE WORLD

140th Anniversary Peterson Pipe, Special Reserve Tobacco

Peterson Pipes of Dublin is celebrating their 140th Anniversary and to mark the occasion they are producing an exact copy of company founder Charles Peterson's favorite pipe. The original pipe is kept in the Peterson museum in Dublin and the silver band is engraved with the message, "When stolen, please return to 55 Grafton Street," signed by Charles Peterson. "Peterson obviously has great faith in the honesty of his fellow Dubliners," notes Peterson Pipes managing director Tom Palmer.

The large bent bowl is finished in a ruby red color. The silver band is engraved with the Thinking Man/Peterson icon. As with the original pipe, it is fitted with a space fitting mouthpiece. Suggested retail is $260.

Peterson has also released the 2005 Special Reserve Tobacco, presented in a new style 100 gm. tin engraved with their Anniversary logo. This year's tobacco is a blend of Black Cavendish and Virginia from three continents with an aroma of berries, coffee and cream. It is described as "very smooth" and "highly aromatic" in taste. Suggested retail, $24.

Bits & Pieces

Arango Pipe Spray, reformulated to meet government environmental guidelines, has returned to the marketplace following a several-year absence. The spray refreshes and sweetens pipes - even ones with heavy deposists and sour-tasting buildup - and dries almost instantly, allowing pipes to be used within five minutes of cleaning. An extension tube is included to reach inside the pipe bowl and shank. Suggested retail per 6-oz. can, $9.99.
